5 months later....

WOW!

Where have I BEEN!? But seriously it has been over 5 months since I last wrote! Yikes! My last entry was about books I had read, which I have read more, but didn't write them down so I can't remember boo!

Anyways, almost 1 month until MY WEDDING!!! OMG I cannot believe that!!! SO a couple of things about THE wedding.

1. Planning a wedding is NOT fun. Yes some parts are like trying on dresses, and receiving amazing showers and parties from those around you. But what I really mean is everything that comes along with planning a wedding. First example: BRIDEZILLA. I want to know who started that word. This is what I have noticed. If you COMPLAIN about anything, not even wedding related in the months planning your wedding, you are labeled a bridezilla. WOW. Not cool! Second: Overwhelming. The overwhelming part is more of everyone around you. You have family and friends throwing out suggestions and if you don't take or don't seem interested you are now seen as ungrateful about it all! You have to constantly go with the flow. That gets super tiring. Third: Pressure. There is just a pressure in the air when planning a wedding. People ask about EVERYTHING and then precede to talk about weddings in not a good way after they happen. I feel the pressure to look good, to make sure the food is good, the flowers look okay and the height on tables does not block people, free bar situation, the actual ceremony and EVERYTHING about it, making sure everyone knows what is going on and how to get to places. And MUCH more. To sum it up: I feel like if I do too much people think I have WAY to much time on my hands and if I don't do enough it gives ppl something to complain about! But I guess that is how people are in most situations.

I feel like I am one of few brides that actually am more excited for the ceremony part. I have so many special ideas up my sleeve to make it memorable and personal. I am just so excited that Andrew and I are finally coming together!

The whole process has shown me a lot about myself and those I surround myself with. I continually try to tell myself that until a person is in my shoes, they just don't know what it is like to go through this whole process. It is not just a silly process of putting together details and looking good on the day. It is WAY more than that and everything else in your life keeps going around you. I pray that when those around me reach the day I am there for them and guide them rather than want to shout: I TOLD YOU SO! :)

2. I still have random jobs all the time. My most recent is full time nanny. It actually ends next week which worry's me that I do not have anything lined up yet and don't want to put any holes in my resume. I have been applying to jobs in SD and just pray that something will come up.

3. Andrew and I found a place. It is a condo that we will rent out. I am SO excited and cannot believe how blessed we are to have received this place! We move in the last weekend of July. Perfect timing as well.

4. There are so many other things too to update, but I don't have time to update right now.

I do like the idea of Andrew and I starting a blog together once married to keep family and friends updated on whats going on with us! So hopefully I don't slack on that!

Books

I haven't updated what I have read for awhile!

1.

On the cruise I read the book Torch by Cheryl Strayed. My brother gave it to me for my birthday. It was not a quick read, meaning I couldn't get into it in some parts but nonetheless it was good. Kind of sad though.

2.

My next book was Handle with Care, another Jodi Picoult book. I can say I haven't found a book of hers I do not like. This was one of those books that you couldn't put down!! I really liked it!

3.

My most recent book, as in I finished Thursday was Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. This was a random book I came across. It was from Christina's old room at her parents house. She never got a round to reading it, but let me tell you I finished it really quick. it was really odd in some parts and I even awkward reading it, but it was one of those novels where you felt like you could truly envision the characters! I liked it!

4.

The book I am currently reading is Lucky by Alice Sebold. This is the author of the novel My lovely bones that is currently a movie. But omg, this book is so intense! I started reading the first 10 pages and I had to put it down. It is just really sad! The first pages really lay out what the character went through and it was really hard to get through.

All in all, I am happy that I am still reading! I think one of the best things about being out of school, I can enjoy reading :)!

WOW

Where have I been??

So many things to update! I guess I will just list everything lately!!

First things first though

1. I AM ENGAGED!!!!! On October 29, 2009 Andrew proposed in Santorini, Greece. I know Greece, can you believe it!?

So I said yes of course! I was COMPLETELY SHOCKED! I really had no idea that he was going to propose on this trip, mostly because we had talked about it hahah, but Andrew is happy I said yes :)

2. We went on a cruise! It was a 12 day cruise, to Greece, Egypt and Turkey. Some of it was so surreal I couldn't honestly take it all in! I got a little sick towards the end, which was just more inconvenient then anything, but I survived! All in all, it was an amazing trip, obviously getting engaged was pretty great as well!

3. Thanksgiving was good in 2009. Jason was here like has been for the past 4 years which is always nice and Andrew actually came up this year! It was fun to have him be with my family. Dan, Natalia (Dan's new girlfriend), Andrew and I all did a Turkey Trot that morning. We didn't do the long beach one, but instead found one in Van Nuys at the Balboa park. It was harder to break in the valley rather than along the beach, but still felt good.

4. Christmas felt like it came and went so quickly this year! I mostly gave gifts from my trip which I think everyone liked and then I asked my now bridesmaids to be bridesmaid. The group consists of: Ellie, Erin (maid of honors), Christina, Shelley, Alex and Erika! I decorated half of the house and my mom did the rest. All in all it looked great, minus I couldn't get the whole tree to light up!! Andrew came up late on Christmas night which was new for us and fun! We also had my aunt in town with us. Long story about her, not really sure I should post that whole situation online though. The weekend after Christmas (I think) Andrew's parents came up to LA and had dinner with my family. I was a little stressed, only because of Jack hahaha, but everything went great!! It was good to have them up here and the conversation was great!

5. New Year's was good this year. Andrew and I drove down to Mexico and celebrated with my dad, erin and jason, marisa and keith and my aunt. We were at Dino's again for the countdown and lentil soup! YUM! This means 2010 truly will be a good year haha The weather was really great that weekend, which was nice!!

6. This past weekend was Andrew's 25th birthday. It was fun. Him and Nick (his best friend) decided to do a joint birthday since Nick's is on the 24th. Nick's girlfriend Becca had a $100 voucher to the Hyatt and got us a room there. So us 4 and Brandi and Burke and Russel all came. We hung out there and then walked to a bar called Rock Bottom. This was all in downtown. Andrew celebrated a little too hard! hahah But it was fun, I got to dance which I feel like I haven't done in forever!

7. Job news. Since before Christmas I have had a part-time, temporary job thanks to Alex! Alex's mom works for PHT and the owner, Seymour who is 91, needs a drive to take him to the office and back home and possibly the doctors, Costco, etc. So that is where I come in! I prefer to call myself a personal assistant rather than driver hahah. I also answer phones and file when I am at the office. Even though its part-time I am sooooooooo grateful for this job! I am soo happy that Alex and her mom thought about me and mentioned my name to Seymour. It really is a great job as I get to spend time with Seymour and we all know I love older people :).

Then thanks to Lindsay :), her dad has been looking for someone he can trust to spend time with an older woman who is recovering from an injury. I will be meeting with her next week to see how she responds to me and if all goes well I will spend maybe 1 day a week to 5 days a week just visiting with her, reading, etc. It sounds like a really great thing! So thank you Lindsay!

8. Erika's birthday is this weekend! She is having a murder mystery dinner party, and it takes places in the 1920s! I have my outfit all ready and I think it looks really good! I am super excited about the whole thing as it seems like it will be a lot of fun!

9. That is mostly it, besides the obvious which is wedding planning! Which I do not like doing. I like to see my decisions right away and don't like how I have to wait 7 months to see how everything comes together! Hahaha, but I am making a lot of progress which is nice!

Well I think I nailed down the major stuff. This week Southern California is being hit by 3 major storms. They are pretty bad too. It was hailing earlier today! We have one more coming tomorrow! Yikes, the streets are really flooding!

Oh and of course the worst part so far of 2010 is the earthquake in Haiti! It was really horrible and was a week ago yesterday (Tuesday). So much needed prayers in that direction!

Hopefully I will be back soon, like after Erika's birthday party!

Ciao!

Are you there God, it's me Megan

So as most people know, I have been out of a job since my grandma passed away in July. For those who I talk to almost daily about what this is like you know that I am constantly VERY frustrated! Especially as I just turned 25 and am doing absolutely nothing will my life, other than trying to make it through every day. Well since I have so much free time, I am constantly doing a lot of thinking and I have thought a lot about God and where he is during this whole process.

I mean I see Him provide so much to others and wonder what he is teaching me right now. I feel like He is constantly testing me, whether it was stuff with grandma, to living with my siblings, to my distance with Andrew and now to unemployed life! He is really working on making me something haha! It's like the last time I went to SD, Andrew and I found an awesome Church and I am like finally some place I see myself getting involved in and even closer to God, which I would think would be something He would ultimately want. So it boggles me when he doesn't provide the tools to let me move closer so that happens.

I mean maybe I have been handling this whole time off from reality the wrong way, but I really don't feel as though I have been missing any answers. Who knows...

obsession

Just a glimpse of my obsession. I started when they made movies. I love the Olsen's! Especially Mary-Kate! Hahha...here are some of my favorite pictures of her:

This one is more for Tyra's ANTM this season, because MK really made herself look tall here!

I want this dress!!!!!!!!

I love this one, minus the fur in her hand!

my life

My life. :(

star for the day

I just wanted to say that Jessica Alba is working out on the Santa Monica steps. Let me tell you, that is a work out! It is so steep and once you do the first like 10 stairs you are sweating hahah

Although this might look strange to some, I find that her black socks with open toe heels work. What I don't get is, how come if I tried this it would look like I am still trying to break in heels and forgot to take my socks off?! haha
